A co-founder of the Tourism Cafe Nancy walks the talk when advocating that businesses “Dare to be Different” in a competitive marketplace. Covid-19 has pushed her innovation skills to new heights as she takes the company into e-learning with their “Tourism Connects” program.
Professionally trained as an educator, instructional designer, evaluator and researcher, Dr. Nancy shifted her career into tourism 22 years ago and never looked back.
Often called the Energizer Bunny, Nancy’s energy is felt throughout Canada and abroad as she designs award-winning tourism training that is interactive, engaging and leaves a legacy.
A sought-out conference speaker, Nancy is passionate about the value of small, medium, and rural business as she works with destinations to diversify their visitor appeal and formulate strategic and destination plans.
When she’s not working you’ll find her out for a hike, bike riding, gardening, or enjoying a glass of wine on the patio!
Training & Development Manager & "Activator"
Lesley is a career tourism professional with an extensive background in tourism training development and delivery, experiential travel, destination development and marketing, and tourism research. She brings a rigorous educational background in marketing, business, tourism development and destination marketing, and teaching, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian tourism industry and its government partners at the federal, provincial and local levels.
Her 25-year tourism career spans both the public and private spheres across a broad range of tourism sectors including government destination marketing, municipal economic development, airlines, cruise, receptive operator, travel agency, on-the-ground tour operations and the wine industry.
Lesley’s talent for leading industry outreach training and development was solidified during her tenure with Destination Canada where she created and managed the successful Canadian Signature Experiences collection and Explorer Quotient research programs, including growing Canada's coast to coast training capacity for the Explorer Quotient Authorized Training team.
Her international experience combined with conversational skills in French, Italian, German and Spanish are a real asset to the Tourism Cafe as she begins to lead and supports our different training, and development projects.
An avid sports enthusiast, when she’s not at her desk, you’ll find her cycling, running, skiing, and relaxing in crazy yoga poses.
Learning Support Coordinator & "Problem Solver"
Diana is committed to providing operational excellence. She loves to find, fit and fine-tune all the pieces of the puzzle achieving the optimal outcome on every project. She is highly skilled at building lasting relationships with customers, key stakeholders, partners, suppliers and contractors.
Her diverse background in project management spans more than 30 years in the advertising, hospitality, event management, experience development and tourism sectors. She has extensive experience in researching, developing, planning, executing and evaluating projects in Canada and internationally.
As the Director of Programs at Pursuit (formerly Brewster), Diana developed visitor experiences and managed all aspects of the guest experience with the interpretive team. While at Banff & Lake Louise Tourism, as Senior Manager of Events, she successfully developed and executed more than 10 new annual destination events specifically designed to attract visitation to the area.
Diana's puzzle solving skills combined with her belief in excellent customer service are a real asset to the Tourism Cafe as she begins to support our venture into the online learning world.
An all rounder of sorts Diana has a strong connection to the arts, her mother was a ballet teacher, and when she’s not at her desk you’ll find her hiking in the backcountry, kayaking and biking.
Finance & Operations & "Money Man"
Paul is the behind-the-scenes engine of the Tourism Cafe, managing the company’s finances, contracts and logistics. He is the team’s resident Francophone researcher and translator.
Professionally trained as a civil engineer and project management professional, he is the team’s resident francophone leading the French research, writing, editing, and translation requirements.
Paul is a key player with the Tourism Cafe’s visitor experience assessments, Destination Canada’s Canadian Signature Experience assessments, and his engineering skills are a real asset when our projects involve land-use and capital construction elements.
An avid traveller, when he’s not at his desk you’ll find him on the golf course, swimming, cycling or hiking.
Advisor & "Ground-Truther"
Todd is a co-founder of the Tourism Cafe Canada and co-owner of Northern Edge Algonquin located in Ontario. A successful entrepreneur, he is passionate about helping communities identify, connect, and profit from their built, natural, and cultural resources.
Professionally trained as an educator, Todd collaborates with community partners to design award-winning retreat experiences, corporate training, leads best practice missions, and is the creative mind behind our Ignite program.
As an owner/operator of an off-the-grid eco-retreat, Todd walks the talk as an advocate for responsible, sustainable tourism. He’s a firm believer in the power of partnerships between tourism allies, their extended community (many who are not traditionally considered to play a role in tourism), and economic development agencies to create rich visitor experiences that have broad and deep economic impact.
A family man at heart, he loves spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and his golf buddies.
