Congratulations to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. On May 1st, 2017 they released "The Way Forward: 2017-20 Provincial Tourism Product Development Plan."
This 32-page document outlines the way forward for the mission, goals, provincial and regional collaboration framework, the 2017-20 product development plan then details the creating and delivering brand experiences. The document concludes with enhancing market readiness, collaborating to compete and understanding value and success.
What is exciting about this plan is that it represents the provincial roll up and future commitment synthesizing four years of intense stakeholder engagement with the regions, communities, government departments and stakeholders around the province to conduct the research to inform the plan.
A total of five comprehensive Destination Development Plans were produced that provide strategic destination product development plans for the Eastern, Central, Western regions of the province, Labrador and North East Avalon which includes the capital city of St. Johns.
This significant undertaking was led by Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador in partnership with the Provinces' department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation. Integrated into the process, to ensure the Inuit tourism development interests were aligned was the 2014 to 20120 Tourism Strategy. Five years from the start of this process, Newfoundland and Labrador can proudly look to provincial plan that sets the stage for short and long-term investment all aligned with Vision 2020.
It is terrific to see results and action 'during the process' that were happening and equally rewarding to see the commitment to the future by the province. It was an honour to be part of the research team working with the NHL and provincial teams in partnership with Brian Trust Marketing and Communications.
