Toolkits, Handbooks & Training Manuals

Our industry benefits from investments by our provincial and federal governments who produce toolkits to assist tourism operators, destinations, and communities with tourism.

Outsourcing some or all of these projects to secure external expertise and industry experience is common. The Tourism Cafe is ready to help with being a:

  • Lead author on a toolkit, handbook, or training guide books.
  • Contributing chapter author in a toolkits, handbook or training guide book.
  • Managing projects with multiple author contributions.

In October 2011, the Canadian Tourism Commission released their Experiences Toolkit, Vol. 2. Dr. Nancy Arsenault authored this resource with contributions from Lesley Anderson (MA) and William Harding (MBA) from the CTC's Brand Experiences team.  The kit even profiles Todd Lucier's tourism biz, Northern Edge Algonquin.

In 2012, the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation in British Columbia will release a new Cultural and Heritage Tourism Development Handbook in their Tourism Business Essentials series.

As a contributing author, Nancy authored and conducted the case study research to produce her chapter on Cultural and Heritage Tourism Product and Market Development.  Stay tuned, as soon as it's released, we'll share the link!
